Mum’s photo of daughter’s lunchbox sparks concern over ‘the brown things’

It’s no secret that we love food – we love to eat it, we love to make it and apparently, we even love to look at pictures of it.

A number of people have been sharing photos and videos of their lunches online for others to see and take inspiration from.

One mum, from Australia, recently caused a stir after sharing an image of her eight-year-old daughter’s lunchbox on Facebook showing what was inside. Alongside this was a snap of her teenage son’s lunch.

The unnamed woman explained that her daughter was having a movie day at school, where there would be pizza, so she’d just need to take some snacks.

Her post read: “Miss 8 is having movie day in school and having Pizza she just need to pack fruits and snacks.

“Sir 13 and Mr Old Boy having Honey Soy Chicken Salad Wrap Yoghurt Fruits N Snacks.”

Many people were quick to comment and say how “yummy” they thought everything looked, but some were concerned by a particular item in the blue box.

A few Facebook users thought the mum had packed her daughter some cigarettes to go to school with after spotting “brown and white things” in one of the sections.

One person commented: “Hey what are those brown things in the blue lunch box for miss 8? They look interesting.”

Another said: “I was like why has miss 8 got ciggys in her lunch box?”

“I thought the white and brown things were cigarettes at first glance,” wrote a third.

So had the parent actually packed something concerning here?

No, of course not! The “brown and white things” are actually Pokey Sticks – chocolate-covered biscuit snacks.

The mum had just broken them up into smaller pieces so they’d fit in the box easier. Mystery solved!
